Frank had been moved to Trinty nursing home on the night of Jan. 6, 2012 and died around 6:30am the next morning. He had been suffering for years from copd, dibeties, heart attacks and then cancer of the throat. He had surgery and had his voice box taken out 4 weeks before his death and stayed in Oconee Memorial for 4 weeks before being moved to Toccoa. Frank was a simple man and wanted things his way and it was very hard to change his mind. He lived alone after he and Betty seperated about 25 years before. He was born lived and buried all within site of each other.

The death certificate states he died of natural causes..

Frank Earnest Deaton, 75, of Virginia Dr., Walhalla, SC died January 7, 2012 at Heritage Health Care of Toccoa, after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Oconee County and son of the late Odes Earnest and Virginia Schultz Deaton. He is survived by his wife, Betty two step-children, Lynn and Dale sister, Edna a special great-niece, Michelle of Walhalla, SC, and a great number of nieces and nephews.

He was a member of North Walhalla Church of God and had worked at the Pickens railroad before its closing and then worked odd jobs until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Deaton was predeceased by a daughter, Pamelia Renee Deaton, brothers, Lewis and Edward Deaton, and sisters, Nora Chappell, Annie Mae Stubblefield, Carrie Ramey, Mary Herron, Martha Leard, and Rubye Whitfield.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 9, 2012 at North Walhalla Church of God, Deaton Rd, Walhalla, SC, with visitation from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM prior to the service. Officiating is Rev. Milton Stubblefield and Rev. G. Scott Hager. The music will be provided by his cousin Gertrude Deaton.
