Kenneth W. Deaton, 69, of Walhalla died at his home Monday after a long illness. He was a native of the Oconee Creek section of Oconee County, son of the late Elbert and Martha Moody Deaton, local merchant for 34 years, member of Hejaz Temple Shrine and Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Frist Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Lemons Deaton; and a sister, Mrs. Seneca Deaton Waldt of Columbia. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Davenport Funeral Home by Rev. Morgan Dukes. Burial was in Oconee Memorial Park with Masonic rites. Pallbearers were R. L. Vissage, Harold Lanford, Lamar Bailes Jr., W. B. Laye, D. M. Hamby and Dr. J. R. Earle.
