Funeral services for Charles Quenton Deaton, 66, who died at an Oconee hospital Friday following an extended illness were conducted at Wolf Stake Baptist church Monday by the Rev. Cecil Loftis and the Rev. W. D. Childers.
Pallbearers were nephews, Harris, Louis, Tom and Clyde Deaton, Lawerence and Marvin Winchester. Great-nieces served as flower girls.
He was a farmer of the Oconee Creek community, and a son of the late Elbert and Martha Moody Deaton. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helen Adams Deaton, of the home; three sons, Ernest Deaton of Belton, Joel Deaton of White Sands, New Mexico, Alton Ray Deaton, of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Beulah Hambrick, Mrs. Nellie Dove, of Duluth, Ga., Mrs. Mildred Burell, of Belton, Misses Evangeline and Esther Deaton, both of the home; one sister, Mrs. Zana Waldt, of Columbus; one brother, Kenneth Deaton of Walhalla; eight grandchildren.
