The Rev. Robertson was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He went to Bible College and became a Pentecostal Holiness minister and served churches in, Jonesville, N.C., Patrick Springs, Va., Pittsville, Va., Valley Chapel in Axton, Central P.H. in Greensboro, N.C., Gastonia, N.C., Winston-Salem, N.C., Dry Fork, Va., and Mayodan, N.C. for over 55 years. He was a member of 1st Pentecostal Holiness Church of Eden, N.C.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Millie J. Robertson of the home; one son, the Rev. Gary Gene Robertson and wife Ann of Martinsville; three daughters, Denise Robertson Tanner and husband John of Lincolnton, N.C., Dana Robertson McNeill and husband John of Concord, N.C., Dianne Robertson Key and husband Ron of Gastonia, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Meredith Haynes of Axton, Seth Robertson of Martinsville, Chris Tanner of Gastonia, N.C., Julie Tanner of Lincolnton, N.C., Angel Williams of Kannapolis, NA, Amber Lykins of Salisbury, N.C., Jacob Todd of Gastonia, N.C., Lindsay Herre of Gastonia, N.C.; sixteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Aaron Robertson of Bassett, and Andrew David Robertson of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and two sisters, Ailene Dyson of Reidsville, N.C., and Jacqueline Neal of Brunswick, Ga.
The Rev. Robertson's funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2019 at Mount Calvary Church with the Rev. Kenny Gunn and the Rev. Michael Ainsworth officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at Mount Calvary Church. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with Military Honors by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of the Rev. Robertson may be made to the Hope Center, 6871 Irisburg Road, Axton, VA 24054.
