Adrian Robertson, 75, of Chesapeake, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 15, 2016.

Born in Draper, North Carolina, May 15, 1941, he was the son of the late Rev. Hiram Levi Robertson and Bertha Bell Robertson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Alma Kriniske, Audrey Capalko and Ava Jean Coleman as well as three brothers, Alton Robertson, Albert Robertson and Allen Robertson.

Adrian “Robbie” Robertson joined the United States Marine Corps in 1958 and was a proud Veteran who served two tours in Vietnam and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts, A Presidential Citation and a Bronze Star. He was also employed with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 56 Refrigeration, General Foreman; Nuclear Freeze Seal, General Foreman; SUPSHIP and retired in 1995 with 37 years of federal service. He was honored as a Lifetime Member of Disabled American Veterans, Chapter J.R. Graham #26. Mr. Robertson enjoyed his retirement living at Lake Gaston in North Carolina, Florida, New Bern, North Carolina and Chesapeake, Virginia. He enjoyed traveling and adventures, meeting friends, shag dancing as well as sharing music with friends and family.

He loved his family very much and he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Connie Bell Robertson, his daughter Debbie Robertson Gordon of Celebration, Florida, his son, Craig L. Robertson and daughter-in-law, Natalie Haley Robertson of Chesapeake; two granddaughters, Rachel Adrian-Marie Gordon and Karlee Dale Gordon of Celebration, Florida; two sisters, Jackie Neal (Joe) of Brunswick, Georgia and Aileen Dyson (Jim) of Reidsville, North Carolina; three brothers, Rev. Austin Robertson (Millie) of Martinsville, Virginia, Andrew David Robertson (Shirley) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Aaron Robertson (Eunice) of Bassett, Virginia, and many loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Great Bridge United Methodist Church, 201 Stadium Drive, Chesapeake. Rev. Thomas L. Mercer, Sr. and Rev. Kenneth Dixon will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at Hickory United Methodist Church, 2708 South Battlefield Boulevard, Chesapeake.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Hickory United Methodist Church and mailed to: HUMC, 2708 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23322.
