Professional Baseball Pitcher. A Puerto Rican native, known as a beanball, brush back pitcher, he became the first player from his country to win a World Series game and played six seasons for the Giants starting in 1953. He pitched the first game in San Francisco Giants history, tossing a six-hit shutout against Los Angeles on April 15, 1958, to beat Don Drysdale 8-0, at Seals Stadium in San Francisco. He also pitched for Philadelphia, Cleveland and Minnesota over his 10-year Major League career, which ended in 1967. Overall, he was 76-86 with a 4.09 ERA.
