MONTPELIER — Merilyn Jensen Marx, 75, went to heaven in April 26, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 30, 1935, in Logan, Utah, to Orvil Thomas and Roma Lee Jensen, and because Roma was a Registered Nurse, the birth of Merilyn was free.
Merilyn went to Fielding High School, in Paris, Idaho, and graduated in 1953. Shortly after graduation she moved to Brigham City, Utah, to work as a Telephone Operator for about two years. She then moved back to Montpelier, and took up work as an Telephone Operator again. One day while working, the Washington School burned down. She heard about the fire over the lines, and was the one that turned on the warning light on Main Street to alert the Police and Fire Stations. A short time afterwards, the telephone systems switched to dial, and she was out of a job. Then she worked for Safeway for a short while.
Merilyn met Clyde Marx and after going out for a while, the got married on October 14, 1955, and to this union they were blessed with five children. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple on June 22, 1962. Merilyn worked many different jobs over the years, with her last one being at the Senior Center.
Merilyn is survived by her husband Clyde; children, Jeff (Charlotte) Marx of Bloomington, Idaho, Chloe Marx of New Castle, Colorado, Martha (Ron) Joslin of White Bird, Idaho, Nancy Marx of Montpelier, Idaho, and Susan (Zane) Wirth of Raymond, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, brothers Lee, Dennis, and Bill, a son Paul, and her Niece Denise.
Funeral Services will be Held in the Montpelier LDS 3rd Ward Chapel on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at noon. Friends may call prior to services from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Montpelier Cemetery.
