Ephraim Ashcraft was born in Decatur County, Indiana he said so himself on a couple of records. Also a death certificate is as good as the person giving the information.

Served with Co. K, 19th Indiana Infantry during the Civil War. He mustered out of volunteer service on 28 JUL 1864. He was the son of Evan/Irvin ASHCRAFT and Minerva DEMAREE ASHCRAFT.

He was in the battle of Gettysburg and was wounded in the shoulder.
