S/O Randolph Alexander and Lydia Simpson
Angus' father Randolph (Sr) was living in Wilkes County NC at the taking of the early NC census in 1784; the Alexanders had been in Surry/Wilkes NC for at least 15-20 years prior to that, as Angus' grandfather Jesse was recorded in the area as early as 1768. Since Jesse Alexander and his children were in NC by 1768, then it is presumed that Angus's father Randolph was in Wilkes in 1778 at the time Angus was born. The Alexanders didn't start migrating to SC and KY until the late 1790s.
