Immigrated to the U.S. from Kumamoto-ken, arriving in Tacoma on May 8, 1900 aboard the S.S. Dalny Vostock. He operated a rooming house in Shoshone, ID taking in mostly Japanese lodgers including Junji Aga. He was married to Pearl Kitaguchi at the time of his death.

The date of death inscribed on his tombstone is significantly different from the date (March 5, 1931) on his death certificate and funeral record.
