Retired Col. Co. Sheriff's Dept. APPLING, Ga. - Wilhemina Bussell Wylds, 80, of Appling, GA., entered into rest on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Wylds was a native of Soperton, GA and had lived in the Augusta area most of her life. She retired from Columbia County Sheriff's Department. Mrs. Wylds was a member of Dunn's Chapel of Leah, GA. Mrs. Wylds was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Lewis H. Wylds. Family members include daughters: Kathy and husband Sonny Batchelor of Augusta, GA; Cheryl and husband Paul Beckworth of Stapleton, GA, Becky and husband Kinney Harman of Hephzibah, GA, Connie Wylds of North Augusta, SC, and Fran and husband Rev. Henry Shaffer, Sr. of Graniteville, SC. Additional survivors include 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father Safrona and Alonza Bussell, 8 sisters, and 4 brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Henry B. Shaffer, Sr. and Rev. Marion Jay officiating. Pallbearers will be Bobby Crawley, Jr., Henry Shaffer, Jr., Tony D. Taylor, Jr., Joshua Batchelor, Justin Benson, Travis Barefield, and Hunter Crawley. Honorary pallbearers will be Rhett Crawley, Emanuele Batchelor, Noah Cowart, Jackson Prather, Brandon Tobias, Garrett Delaughter, John Bannister, Jesse Dean Swearingen, Maxwell Shaffer, and Jack Shaffer. Internment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
