Marvin Marcum was born November 1, 1925 in Jackson County and departed this life Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, being 83 years of age. He was the son of the late John F. & Janette (Bee Bee) Turner Marcum.

Marvin is survived by his wife Emmielee (Murphy) Marcum of Sand Gap and by the following children- Donna (Marcum) Isaacs & her husband Dafford of Berea, Danny Marcum of McKee, Darron Marcum and his wife Penny of Sand Gap, Bert Marcum of West Virginia and Margie Short of Tennessee. He was blessed with five grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was also preceded in death by a son- Brent Marcum, by a grandson- Brandon Sparks, by a sister- Violet Dean and by a brother- Orville Marcum.

Marvin was retired from the United States Navy and from the United States Air Force. He was also a long time local merchant, a Mason and a member of the Light House Baptist Church in Berea. Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family, he loved to fish and was an avid sports fan.
