Marilyn Morris,age 77, retired High School Physical Education Teacher and Coach passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2008. She was born on April 12, 1931 in Overland, Missouri to August and Caroline Moeckli. After graduating from High School she attended Central Missouri State University where she received a Bachelor's degree in Education. She married Lawrence Morris on August 3, 1952. After a year in Odessa, Missouri the couple moved to Wichita where she taught at Wichita East, South and Southeast High Schools over the next 37 years. She coached women's softball, volleyball and field hockey at all three schools. She completed her Master's degree in Education at Wichita State University during her career. After retiring in 1990, she was actively involved in many community activities including Altrusia, the YMCA Strong Kids program and Big Brothers and Sisters. She was also an instructor for Arthritis swimming classes at the YMCA. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Lawrence. She is survived by one daughter, Caroline (David) Lavin and three grandsons, John of Lawrence,Kansas, Paul and Michael of Wichita, Kansas, and brother Herb Moeckli of Cuba, Missouri. Viewing was on Friday, August 29, 2008 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Resthaven Mortuary. Funeral Services were held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Christ The King Church.
