Hadžera Ćatović married Bijedić was born in the village of Plana near Bileća in 1920. As a 20-year-old girl, she was thrown into the Čavkarica pit in Bileća together with 500 other Bosniaks from Bileća. She spent 2 and a half months in the Čavkarica cave, from 03.09. until 21.11.1941.
Hadžera spent 81 days in the pit and fed herself with the bread she brought from home and the bread she found in the pockets of the dead in the pit. Sometimes the shepherds also threw bread into the pit.
After 81 days in the pit, Hadžera was pulled out by villagers from Nevesinje. When they pulled her out in Hadžera, she weighed no more than 30 kilograms. Hadžera's entire family died in the Čavkarica pit.
Hadžera Ćatović - Bijedić died in the town of Randers in Denmark at the age of 94. She was buried at the Gornje Grančarevo cemetery in Trebinje.
