On the 2nd of August, she was at the train station with her husband and Manuela, her 11-year-old daughter. They were waiting for the train that would have taken Manuela to summer camp in Dobbiaco, in the province of Bolzano. The three were near the waiting room and her husband left to buy cigarettes. In that instant the bomb exploded; her husband was injured, but not severely, while Natalia and her daughter Manuela were crushed by rubble and were seriously wounded. They were both brought to the hospital in critical condition; Natalia died a few days later while Manuela's funeral was taking place.
