Veteran of the Civil War and connected with the Fire Department for many years. Served with the British Navy as a young man . After going through the Civil War he enlisted Seventh Regiment U. S. Calvary and fought under Custer in the West. He retired from the Fire Department 11 years ago and leaves a widow, one son and four daughters.
