Japanese actress. Her career gained traction after landing her the role of Tripitaka in the TV show "Saiyuki," which is known in the west as "Monkey". Her success, however, was short lived as she came down with Leukemia in 1985 and subsequently passed away at the Keio University Hospital.

Her main grave is at the Nishiyama/Cho family plot of the Dairaku-ji of Hofu, Yamaguchi, which is where the family of her husband, Shizuka Ijuin, is buried.
