JOHN SNYDER
(1896-1955)
John Snyder, 57, of Woods Ridge, died at 2:20 p.m. yesterday while working in the yard at his home.
Mr. Snyder was a conductor in the yard department of Detroit Steel Corp Portsmouth Division. In September 1953, he was severely injured between two freight cars in the yards.
He was born Feb. 15, 1898, in Carter County, Ky., a son of David and Lucy Thacker Snyder, but had lived in Scioto County most of his life.
He was married in 1908 at Grayson, Ky., to Blanche McCormick, and she survives.
Also surviving are the following children, Mrs. Marie Mosely of Port Clinton, Ohio, Ernest of Indianapolis, Mrs. Walter Journey, 919 Fourth St., Mrs. Maynard Mosley, 321 Front St.; the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Ida Horsley of Cable, Ohio, Mrs. Laura Kegley, 1014 16th St., Mrs. Mary Clifford, 937 Front St., Isaac Snyder, 944 Front St.; the following half-brothers and sisters, Mrs. Betty Burke of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Frank Blake of Ironton, Mrs. Irene Pyles of Columbus, Mrs. Ada Jackson of Springfield, Mrs. Charles Snyder of Charles St., Nelson Snyder of Garrison, Mrs. Rose Snyder of Charles St.
Mr. Snyder was a member of the CIO United Steelworkers Union.
Funeral services are to be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Melcher Funeral Home. Burial is to be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, near Wheelersburg.
Friends may call at the residence after 6:30 tonight.
