Robert Clayton, Norman Andrews and Jean Lee were executed for the murder of the SP Bookmaker - William George Kent. The murder occurred at a rooming house in November 1949, in the Melbourne suburb of Carlton. The three had met him whiel having drinks in a local hotel. After drinks the party went with Kent to his room around 6pm and around 9pm some other lodgers had found Kent's room in disarray and his lifeless body on the floor. He had been brutally bashed and tortured, according to police reports

He was executed by hanging, along with Robert Clayton and Jean Lee and buried within the walls of the gaol.
