Son of Henry Asher and Anna (Pennington) Asher. When John Asher was born in 1861 in Clay, Kentucky, his father, Henry, was 25 and his mother, Anna, was 18. He married Elisabeth Asher and they had two children together. He also had one daughter with Dora Copeland. He died on May 14, 1949, a car accident in Kuna, Idaho, at the age of 88, and was buried there.
