Alexander Legrand, son of Peter Legrand and Jane Michaux, was born in 1728, and was married in 1757 to Lucy Walker. In the war between Great Britain and France, 1756-1763, Alexander Legrand was a sergeant in a company of Volunteers attached to the 1st Virginia Regiment of Regulars under command of Major Andrew Lewis.
