He was the son of Hovhannes (Ohannes) John & Nevart Kalamkarian of Malatya in the Ottoman Empire. He worked as a goldsmith and then immigrated through Ellis Island in April 1912. Later he was a tailor and then opened the Paris Cleaners and Dyers. At his death from a coronary embolism he lived at 304 S. 52nd Street in Philadelphia.
