Dan Stafford Robertson, 83, of 1620 A.L. Philpott Highway, Axton, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville.
He was born on May 5, 1922 to D. Moss Robertson and Betty Ann Cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Dana Kent Robertson; three sisters, Sadie Jones, Lena Roach and Cassie Lester; and six brothers, Henry Robertson, Frank Robertson, D.M. Robertson II, Gordon Robertson, Roy Robertson and Abraham Robertson.
He served in the Army Air Corp in World War II. He was a retired farmer and owner of Farmers Tobacco Warehouse in Martinsville and Holland's Warehouse in Danville. He was a member of Axton Baptist Church, a charter member of Axton Volunteer Fire Department, a member of Martinsville Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Martinsville and Henry County Social Services Board and was a former member of Axton Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie Marie Nance Robertson of the home; one daughter, Donna Kaye Wilson of Newport News; one son, Danny Keith Robertson of Axton; two sisters, Mozelle Oakes of Brosville and Theo Robertson of Axton; two brothers, Sam Robertson of Axton and William "Bill" Robertson of Martinsville; and four granchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McKee-Stone Funeral Services chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at McKee-Stone Funeral Services and at other times at the home.
