Lena Robertson Roach, 82, of A.L. Philpott Highway, Axton, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. She was the widow of Jessie Neal Roach Sr.
She was born March 31, 1918, in Henry County, a daughter of the late Dee Moss Robertson and Betty Ann Cook Robertson. She also was preceded in death by six brothers, Gordon Robertson, Abraham Robertson, Dee Robertson Jr., Frank Robertson, Roy G. Robertson and Henry Robertson; and one sister, Sadie Jones.
She retired from DuPont with 25 years of service and was a member of Axton Baptist Church, where she served on the Missionary Society and with the adult Sunday School class.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty Ann Roach Manning of Axton and Janie Sue Roach Barker of Chester; one son, Jesse Neal "Boots" Roach Jr. of Gretna; three brothers, Dan S. Robertson and Sam K. Robertson, both of Axton, and William "Billy" Robertson of Martinsville; three sisters, Cassie Lester of Danville, Mozelle Oakes of Brosville and Theo D. Robertson of Axton; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Norris Funeral Services chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Norris Funeral Services and other times at the home on U.S. 58, Axton.
Memorials may be made to the Axton Baptist Church Building Fund, 173 Mountain Valley Road, Axton, Va. 24054.
