Born May 2, 1933 in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Julian Willoughby Pridgeon and Anna (Crocker) Pridgeon and wife of Hubert E. Jones.
Mrs. Jones had worked at the Baptist Goodwill Center in Charleston, SC and was a member of First Baptist Church of Duncan, SC. She volunteered in the health room at Duncan Elementary and all District 5 schools and worked with Dr. Pete Smith to have all the childrens eyes checked. She started both the Duncan-Lyman-Wellford Christmas parade and the beauty pageant. Mrs. Jones was an artist who enjoyed painting and teaching art.
Survivors include a daughter, Kelli Bourgeois and husband Don of Duncan; three sisters, Frances Simpson of Lyman, Sara Lee of Lake Bowen, and Betty Pridgeon Dill of Spartanburg; a brother, Charles Pridgeon of Spartanburg; two granddaughters, Allison and Bethany Bourgeois of Duncan; and a grandson, Mitchell Bourgeois, also of Duncan.
She was predeceased by a brother, Bolen Pridgeon.
Visitation was 3-5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2005 at First Baptist Church of Duncan.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2005 at the Church, conducted by the Rev. C. Allen Senn and the Rev. Garry Harper. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
