Bio
October 2022 and ongoing: Working on locating the graves of "Detroit's Own" World War I Polar Bears who fought in Russia and making "Virtual Cemeteries". They were the 85th Division: 339th Infantry Regiment, the 1st Battalion of 310th Engineers, and the 337th Ambulance & Hospital Companies, as well as the Provisional Companies: 167th Transportation Company (Operations) and 168th Transportation Company (Maintenance). There were also 510 men transferred as replacements who were from the 328th MG Battalion, 329th MG Battalion, 330th MG Battalion, 338th Infantry, 337th Infantry and the 340th Infantry. The majority of my current photo requests are for the headstones of these men. I am so thankful for the people all over the country (and one in France) who have helped in this project by fulfilling the requests.
2022 & Ongoing: I am walking Oak Hill Cemetery in Pontiac, Michigan row by row to add plot locations, GPS and photos.
My hobby is to walk cemeteries, take photos, GPS graves, find old obituaries, cemetery records and funeral records as well as input plot locations when available. I mostly want to document graves through GPS, plot location and photographs so that even if the headstone fades or disappears, people can still find their ancestors location. I love when all of these sources come together and
I can identify a stone and/or an unmarked grave that hadn't previously been identified.
I frequently put notes on the photographs to explain plot layouts or if there is an unmarked grave, etc.
I enjoy the collaboration on Find a Grave. Everyone contributes in their own way. Thank you to everyone who puts in the time and effort to work together.
Please Note: Historical documents that I upload reflect the era and culture in which they were created. It is my intention to find records and share them with others. As such, they may contain potentially objectionable content that reflects outdated, biased, offensive, or graphic language, attitudes, opinions, or images that are preserved for historical context, accuracy, or significance, and not for any endorsement of such views or events.
