My dad, Charles Sherwood, also known as “Chick” or “Chuck”, was born on March 15, 1933 in Mansfield, OH. He moved to Arlington, TX as a young boy with his parents and younger sister. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1951. After graduation he moved to Lubbock, TX to attend Texas Tech. While going to school he was drafted into the Army where he served 2 years in Germany during the Korean war. Shortly after being discharged he returned to Texas Tech to finish his education. In 1956, he met my mom Carol Edwards and married her on January 19, 1957. They moved to Lubbock, TX while my dad was attending college. A few years later my parents moved to Arlington, TX where they raised a family of 4 daughters and 2 sons. My dad was a very hardworking dedicated man. He was a great family man who loved his wife, kids and grandkids unconditionally. One of his favorite things to do was to watch car racing on TV. He never missed an opening of The Indianapolis 500, he loved the sound of engines reeving up. My dad loved traveling and could get behind the wheel of his van and drive for hours. His joy was making other people happy and would do anything for anyone. My parents were blessed to get to enjoy one last trip to Branson, MO just a few weeks before my dad passed away. He was loved by so many. Anyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing him knows that he was the BEST there was. My dad passed away on November 9, 2003 leaving behind so many who loved him.
