MUNCIE--Jean Isenbarger, 80, wife of Muncie City Councilman and former Director of Indiana Department of Transportation, John P. (Jack) Isenbarger, died early Saturday morning, August 28, 2004 in Goshen Memorial Hospital, Goshen, following a sudden illness.
She was born in St. Louis, MO, graduated from University High School and later from DePauw University, and came to the Muncie area in 1946 with her husband. From 1952 to 1956 they lived in Dayton, OH, from 1956 until they returned to Muncie in 1962, they lived in Wilmette, IL.
Jean was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, Tri Kappa, Delaware Country Club, DePauw Alumni Association, and the Ball Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving besides her husband of more than 58 years are three sons, John Isenbarger, Tom Isenbarger (wife-Cindy), and Phil Isenbarger (wife-Jenny); a granddaughter, Katie; six grandsons, Jake, Luke, Tom, Scott, Matt, and Jack; her sister, Margaret Waters (husband-Dr. Robert); and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at High Street United Methodist Church 11 a.m. Tuesday with Dr. Jack Harman, pastor, officiating. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at THE MEEKS MORTUARY and CREMATORY from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday or at the church one hour prior to service time on Tuesday.
Memorials may be directed to High Street United Methodist Church, Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, the Special Olympics, or the Ball Memorial Hospital Foundation.
