Alice Louise Jordan Kadel was born to Charles Auerlius and Rosina Barbara Geiser Jordan at their farm home southwest of Beloit, Kansas on January 10, 1917. She departed this life on March 22, 2012 at the age of 95 years, 2 months and 12 days at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas.

Alice graduated from Beloit High School in 1934. She then attended Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina for two years. She moved back to Beloit and was employed as a legal secretary for the Jordan Law Firm.

On July 16, 1943, Alice married Ivan Nelson Kadel of Scottsville, Kansas in Chicago, Illinois. They were married at the Thorndyke Hilton Memorial Chapel on the University of Chicago campus. Attending the couple were Alice's brother and wife, Dr. Frank and Gwen Jordan of Abilene, Kansas. At this time, Ivan was serving in the U.S. Army.

Upon discharge from the Army in 1946, Ivan and Alice moved to their farm west of Jamestown, Kansas, where they maintained their residence for 55 years.

Following a severe stroke in 1997, Ivan moved to Cheyenne Lodge, Jamestown, Kansas. Alice continued to live on the farm, through Ivan's death in 2001 until she moved to the Hilltop Assisted Living Apartments, Beloit, Kansas in May, 2005. In the spring of 2011, she entered Hilltop Lodge Nursing Home, Beloit.

In May, 1954, Ivan and Alice adopted a family of three boys and one girl. Their youngest son, David, joined them in their farming operation in 1974. Alice took great pride in being a true farmwife and helping to raise sheep, cattle, and a variety of crops.

Alice was an avid gardener, and was known for all her flowers and the beautiful floral arrangements she provided for numerous occasions. Her garden also provided bountiful crops of vegetables and fruit for her family.

Alice was an excellent seamstress and cook, always a hard worker and also an accomplished Bridge player. She continued to play Bridge until just a few weeks before her death.

She was a member of the Jamestown Methodist Church, the U.M.W., the Cozy Corner Club, the Current Literature and History Club, and always, a Bridge Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Ivan, four brothers Ernest, Kenneth, Charles Jr., and Frank, and two sisters Mary Regnier and Ruth Snider.
