DENT, Marie Gabrielle (Weaver), 88, of Lake Placid, Fla. was called home by our Lord in the early morning Thursday, February 1, 2009. She died at Southern Lifestyles Assisted Living Facility in Lake Placid. Marie was a native of Maryland, born May 13, 1920, to Regina and James Weaver in Baltimore, Md. Marie joined the U.S. Navy after high school and served as a lieutenant commander during World War II. After being discharged she furthered her education by earning her doctoral degree. Marie served more than 40 years with the Broward County School Board as a guidance director. She came to Lake Placid two years ago from Hollywood, Fla. after her husband, Hugh, passed away.
Marie was a Right to Life member, an avid bridge player and a member of the Nativity Catholic Church in Hollywood, Fla., Marie is survived by her sons, Skip (CheryI) of Lake Placid, Fla., Jim (Janet) of Plantation, Fla., Steve of Minneapolis, Minn., Rick (Jenny) of Vero Beach, Fla., Tom (Janet) of Stuart, Fla., and John (Louise) of Hollywood, Fla; one sister, Gloria Tschurr of San Antonio, Texas, 10 grand- children; and she was blessed with one great-grandchild. A Christian memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Nativity Catholic Church in Hollywood. Father Dan Doyle will be the celebrant.
