The Foxhound Breeder community has lost a great man with the passing of Louis C. Hobby, 81, on February 17th , 2009. Louis was an avid hunter and hounds man who referred to himself an old country boy. For the past 30 years, he was a frequent site around the pen hunts in the southern region and it was an important part of his life. He was very
proud that he and his dogs have been in The Chase magazine several times. The Hobby hounds have won hundreds of trophies and were champions in each or all events from Speed & Drive, Bench and Best in Show. He loved the fact that his dogs, and his training, could keep up with the
younger trainer's dogs. Louis spent his lifetime breeding and raising the American foxhounds. If you were ever lucky enough to breed to or acquire one of his dogs, you knew that they had superb bloodlines and were well taken care of.

It was a hard blow when, as his health declined, he was forced to sell off his dogs 2 years ago. He left this world from his home, with his children holding his hands. He left behind four daughters, and more grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren than I can count. We can all take a little comfort with the knowledge that he can, once
again, watch his dogs follow the trail of a recently passed fox.
