Kyle M. Hurst, 17, of Monroe, died at 5:39 p.m. Thursday in Mercy Memorial Hospital's Emergency Room. He had been in poor health for four months.
Friends may call form 12 noon Sunday until services at 4 p.m. at Rupp Funeral Home. The Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born November 18, 1994 in Toledo, he was the son of Matthew S. and Michelle J. (Brooks) Hurst.
Kyle was a high spirited young man who enjoyed football and sports.
Kyle had attended Summerfield Schools and last fall began classes at Monroe High School. He only spent a short time there before beginning his brave battle with a brain tumor.
He is survived by his parents, Matthew S. and Michelle J. Hurst of Monroe; three brothers, Matthew S. Hurst, Colin M. Hurst and Justin M. Hurst all of Monroe; grandparents, Ruth Miller, John and Linda (Brooks) Frey and James Brooks; aunts and uncles, John and Kelly Burman, Jeffrey and Robin Hurst, James and Pam Brooks, Thomas Brooks and Shawna Fulner, Jeffery Brooks and several cousins.
He is preceded in death by his great grandparents, an aunt, Rhonda Brooks and grandfather, Darrell Hurst.
