Fred Oliver "Racket" Lawson, 56, husband of Mrs. Frances Jolly Lawson of 243 Osborne St., Route 6, Union, died this morning at 7:55 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.
Mr. Lawson was born in Union County on January 17, 1927, a son of Clarence and Mary Lillian Steen Lawson. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Bill, and Howard. He was empolyed with Treadway Cab Co.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. George (Judy) Franklin of Jonesville; a sister Mrs. Verona Beheler of Union; a brother Edward Lawson of Union; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Grady Ghent and the Rev. Joseph Stover. Burial will be in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Randy Greer, Phil Whisnant, Billy Morris, Wilbur Morris, Wayne Bobo and Wayne Garner.
The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 until 9.
The family is at the home, 243 Osborne Street, Route 6, Union.
The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
