A. B. (Burt) Powell, 79, well known resident of Westminster, died Thursday morning in the Oconee Memorial Hospital.
A native of Oconee county, he was born July 7, 1882, and had made his home in this area all of his life.
His parents were the late Robert and Sarah Deaton Powell natives of Oconee county. His Wife Beatrice Andrew Powell, died Nov. 24, 1956. He was a farmer by occupation.
Surviving are four sons, Archie, Westminster; Almon, Pendleton; David, Westminster and Paul Powell of Pendleton; six daughters, Mrs. Edna Voyles, Pendleton, Mrs. Newell Jaynes, Havelock, N. C., Mrs. Maude Walker, Westminster, Mrs. Helen Salernia, Ceronade, Calf., Mrs. Ida Webber, Summerville, S. C.; one brother,Edgar Powell, Martin, Ga., four sisters, Mrs. Louie Patton, Charlette, N. C., Mrs. J. P. McDonald, Greenville, Mrs. Nora Andrews, Atlanta, Ga. and Mrs. Carl Smith, Westminster, 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday from the chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. Burial was in Oconee Memorial Park.
