Gladys Birdwell, 93, of West Allen's Bridge Road, died Thursday evening at her home.

She was a housewife.

Mrs. Birdwell was a member of Meadow Creek Presbyterian Church, the Democratic Women's Club, and Tusculum Garden Club.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Lois and Johnny Powers of Greeneville; four sons and daughters-in-law: Leo and Jean Birdwell, Johnny and Ann Birdwell, and Jay and Ann Birdwell, all of Greeneville, and Luke and Rosalind Birdwell of Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren and their special spouses: Russ Birdwell of Arizona, George and Amanda Birdwell and Joe Birdwell, all of Knoxville, Craig and Nancy Birdwell, Tim Birdwell, and Teresa and Derrick Bubbliz, all of Arizona, Jay Douglas Birdwell, Julia and Mike Crum, Stephen and Brye Powers, Phil and Kathy Birdwell, Sandra and Tommy Love, Johnene and Travis Holt, Wesley Birdwell, and Patrick Birdwell; seven great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; a sister: Mary Ruth Russell of Greeneville; three sisters-in-law: Mildred Russell and Maxine Russell, both of Greeneville, and Joann Rhoades of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and several other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was a daughter of the late John and Patti Jones Russell and the widow of George L. Birdwell.

Mrs. Birdwell was preceded in death by an infant daughter, an infant grandson, and five brothers: Dave Russell, John Paul Russell, Luke Russell, Mark Russell, and Lyle Russell.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Kiser Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jim Thornton and Jeff McNabb officiating. Interment will follow in Meadow Creek Cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
