Buford P. Jones, age 72, of Afton, passed away Monday afternoon July 18th at the Select Specialty Care Unit of Bristol Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was a member of Bradburn Hill United Methodist Church, the Baileyton Masonic Lodge #520 F&AM, and the Baileyton Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 319. He retired from Parker Hannifin (formerly TRW) in 2002 after 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Alma Morrison Jones; children and their spouses: Cindy and James Strange, Mike Harmon, and Vicki and Danny Scott; 8 grandchildren and their spouses; Lori and Mike Davis, Mendy and George Vanbuskirk, Kristi and Cal Christopher, Carla and Nick Combs, Amanda and Chase Haney, Molly Derry, Stephen Harmon and Kaitlin Harmon; 7 great-grandchildren: Emily and Maddie Davis, Chance and Nicklaus Payne, Marley Vanbuskirk, Christian Derry and Kenna Combs; sister and brother in law Betty and James Elmer Ragan of Mosheim; brother Samuel Merle Jones of Greeneville; nieces and nephews Mary Conduff, Linda Setser, Martha Summey, Jeannie Cutshaw, Lisa Statzer, Janet Wampler, Lori Chappell, Peggy Jones, Terry Pruitt, David Jones and Richard Jones; mother-in-law: Arnell Morrison; sister-in-law: Helen Gentry; and brothers-in-law and their spouses: David and Judy Morrison, Oscar and Diane Morrison, and Denver Carroll Morrison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Boss and Ethel Jones, a sister Dorothy Pruitt, three brothers Dick Jones, Arlin "Dude" Jones, and Don Jones.

The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Clowers and Rev. Lowell Bowens officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 - 7 Wednesday preceding the service at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Bradburn Hill Cemetary. Family and friends are asked to be at the funeral home by 10:00 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Harmon, Cal Christopher, George Vanbuskirk, Chase Haney, Nick Combs, Terry Pruitt, David Jones and Bill Conduff.

Honorary pallbearers will be the congregation of Bradburn Hill United Methodist Church, Mark Brown, Dr. Thomas Beckner, Dr. Steve Prince, Dr. Mandeep Bakshi, the staff of the Select Specialty Care wing of BRMC, and a host of friends including his co-workers of Parker Hannifin and the employees of Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
