Age 92, passed away Thursday July 7, 2011 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born July 6, 1919 in New Castle West, Ireland to John and Bridget (Barrett) Willis.
On June 14, 1941 she married Jerry Croghan in Ypsilanti and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2001. Mary was a former member of St. Alexis Catholic Church and attended St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ypsilanti. She loved bowling, golfing, and square dancing and was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Survivors include: two sons, Michael Croghan of Manchester, and William Brian (Wendi) Croghan of Tennessee; five grandchildren: Lora, Paul, Michael, Danielle and Cassandra; five great grandchildren: Lauren, Lynnae, Taylor, Sydney and Gage; three sisters: Margaret (Ozzie) Ostland of Virginia, Christine Tearney of Indiana, and Cecilia Ellis of Ypsilanti and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brother John, and two sons John and Patrick A mass of Christian burial will be on Wednesday at 11 am from St John the Baptist Church with Father Bob Roggenbuck and Father Paul Ruddy co-officiating. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St John the Baptist Church for Masses or Michigan Heart Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends 1-9 pm Tuesday and at Church from 10 am until time of Mass Wednesday. The scripture service will be 7 pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
