Harold ``Red'' H. Dunbar Sr., a former Bristol resident, died Wednesday in Plantsville. He was 91. He was born in Newport, R.I., and came to Bristol at an early age. He was active in the local National Guard unit and worked in New Departure in Bristol until his unit was activated in 1940. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving four years in the South Pacific with the 43rd Infantry, and was discharged as a lieutenant colonel. He then worked at Penfield Saw Works and the Andrew Terry Co., now known as O.Z. Gedney, until his retirement in 1975.
