Memphis Seaton, age 9, of Green Ridge Loop, Afton, died Wednesday at his home.

He was a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

He attended Doak Elementary School, where he was about to enter fourth grade.

"There is something you must always remember: you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is: even if we're apart, I'll always be with you!

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that. ...I love you more!"

Survivors include his parents: Robbie and Somer Seaton; his grandmother: "Nanny" Sandy Seaton; his grandfather: "Paw Paw" Rick Williams; his grandmother: Nancy Cogburn; aunt and uncle: Tasha "Tashie" and Michael Munsey; uncle and aunt: Jesse and Scarlett Seaton; special cousin: Aliyah Munsey; uncles: Nathan Armstrong and wife, Tammy, Ryan Armstrong, and Brett Knight; numerous other special aunts, uncles, cousins, great-aunts, and great-uncles; and his extended church family at Union Chapel.

He was preceded in death by a very, very special "Pa-Paw," Ronnie Seaton, and a great-grandmother, Dorothy Williams.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Union Chapel FWB Church.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at Union Chapel FWB Church with interment in Union Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Lynn Neas, the Rev. Jason McCoy, the Rev. Larry Arrowood, and the Rev. Asa Adams will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Seaton, Jesse Seaton, Brett Knight, Billy Knight, Nathan Armstrong, Ryan Armstrong, and Mike Munsey.

Honorary pallbearers will be fellow students in the third grade class at Doak Elementary School.

Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
