Funeral services for Donald M. Byrd, 74, of Tchula were held Monday, April 25, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Tchula with interment in Pinecrest Cemetery in Tchula. He died April 23, 2011, in his home.
He was born December 14, 1936 in Cruger to parents Richard Byrd and Irvine Janece Cheatham Byrd.
A 1958 graduate of Mississippi State College, he was self-employed as a civil engineer. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tchula.
He is survived by his wife, Betty P. Byrd of Tchula; sons Richard (Debbie) Byrd of Tchula and Chris (Darla) Byrd of Clinton, Miss.; daughters Janece (Warren) Barron of Olive Branch, Miss., and Shae (Robert) Davis of Tchula; sisters Patsy (James) Peaster of Yazoo City, Miss., and Becky (John) Pratt of River Bend, Ala.; along with nine grandchildren.
Bros. Larry Edwards and James Shumate officiated funeral services.
Pallbearers were Richard Spencer, Curtis Gwin, Ronnie Chisholm, Ricky Davidson, and Allen Spencer. Honorary pallbearers were Earl Davidson, Jimmy Braswell, T.O. "Red" Chisholm, J.R. "Bob" Gilfoy, Dr. John Downer, Dr. Kenny Hines, Lee Roy Thornton, Danny Roberts, and John R. Wright.
Southern Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
