CUMBERLAND GAP, Tenn. Franklin Delano Chumley, 75, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn.

He was a member, a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Underwood Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He taught and was an administrator in the Middlesboro Independent School System for 32 years, and was an alumni of Lincoln Memorial University.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Wheeler and Ethel J. (Goins) Chumley; brothers, Park, Dave, Chilford, Sewell, and Houston Chumley; sisters, Mary Sandifer, Kathrine Rose and Ollie Mae Martin.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Muriel E. Chumley; sons and daughter-in law, Jerry and Teru Chumley, of Carrolton, Ga., Franklin J. and Janie Chumley of Cumberland Gap, John David Chumley of Corbin, Ky.; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Arnold Gerding of Cumberland Gap, Mechelle and Sam Daniels of Cumberland Gap; daughters-in-law, Misti Morgan and Lisa Cornett; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to Underwood Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Coffey Funeral Home, Harrogate Chapel, and from 12-1 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at Underwood Grove Missionary Baptist Church
