Born to Norwegian and possibly Danish parents, Charley came to America to seek his fortune.Charles lived with his Uncle Ole Brighton a short time in Madison, Wisconsin, then assumed the name Thomas Aufinson, to join the Union 1 Wisconsin Calvary, Co. G. He served until 1964, living a short time in Kentucky, then traveling west to California to herd cattle. He was ambushed by a raiding Native American party, getting shot in the right shoulder. Charles eventually settled in Bosque County, Texas. He married Charlotte Elizabeth Irwin of Missouri. They settled in Texas, living in Haskell. Not many records of this ancestor are availible, and only one photo is known to us. Any descendents of Danish or Norwegian Brightons are requested to contact me.
