Helen was born to the parents of George Allen(1888-1972) and his wife Margaret Jane 'Jones' Dillon(1889-1961) in Superior, Boulder County, Colorado on the 3rd of January, 1922.

She had 6 brothers and 7 sisters:

Helen Irene was 18 when she married Gasper Gottino on March 9th, 1940, in Lafayette, Colorado. His parents immigrated here from Italy. Together they had 3 children, two sons and one daughter. Guy, Donald & Judith. His parents must have lived in Longmont, Boulder County at sometime as on the 1940 census record, it records Helen and her husband living with his parents. Her husband worked in the Columbine Coal Mine in Boulder. Most probably where Helen met her husband being Helen's father worked in dif Coal Mines in the Boulder, Longmont area's.

Her husband was in the Army and sent overseas to Okinawa, Japan where he was killed in action on June 22nd, 1945, his body was shipped to his hometown, where many of his family are buried, and is buried in Hudson Cemetery in Fremont County, Wyoming. She was only married 5 years and was 23 years old when her husband was killed in the war. She never remarried, was a widow for 38 years. Helen passed on the 26th of November in the year 1983 in Colorado. Buried in the family plot in Lafayette Cemetery in Lafayette, Colorado. Age 61 years. She outlived her husband by 38 years.

Helen was living on 1039 Terry Street in Longmont, Colorado. She passed in Fitzimons General Army Hospital Medical Center, in Aurora, Colorado, after a extended illness. After her husbands passing she moved back to Longmont, Colorado in 1946. She worked as a secretary for Dow Chemical Company for 10 years. The rest of the obit tells of her husband, siblings and her children which are included in the above.
