Thomas C. "Tom" Carringer, 80, of Ellijay, GA died Sunday, January 18, 1981 in the Fannin Regional Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Stecoah, NC on April 15, 1900, a son of the late Taylor Elsbury and Harriet Odom Carringer. On July 5, 1919, in Graham County, NC Tom married Miss Kitty Jenkins, youngest daughter of John Harvey and Aldamanda Josephine Hogue Jenkins of Stecoah. Tom was a farmer who loved working in his summer vegetable gardens and spending time with his large family and numerous friends.

Preceding Tom in death other than his parents are his beloved wife, Kitty Jenkins Carringer, who passed away February 10, 1979; four brothers: James Pearlie, Samuel Arthur, Jaspar "Jape," and Virgil Carringer; three sisers: Myra Carringer Crisp, Georgia Carringer, and Mary Carringer.

Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Ada Crisp of Robbinsville; Mrs. Doris Byers of Brasstown, NC, and Mrs. Jean Shelton of Ellijay; six sons: Bruce and Neal Carringer of Brasstown, Jack, Edgar, and T.C. Carringer, all of Ellijay,and Ted Carringer of Pioneer, TN; one sister, Mrs. Easter Marie Carringer Johnson of Stecoah, 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 20, 1981 in the Northcut Baptist Church in Ellijay with Revs. Hugh Puckett and Paul Hughes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery beside his wife. The body lay in state thirty minutes before the service hour.

Bernhardt Funeral Home, Ellijay, was in charge of arrangements.

Tom is my paternal Grandfather.
