She was of Irish descent. Her full name was Theodocia Ellena Sherrad. She was born 4 August 1896 in Mills County, Texas. Her father was James Sherrard.

She was married to Charles Clemmons "Clem" Egger on May 22, 1912 according to Brown County Marriage Records. She and Clem had a baby boy born in 1913. His name was John Archibald "Archie" and he died in 1968. When Clem died Doshia/Docia was just a few weeks pregnant with their baby girl, Theodocia Justenia "Dean" Egger, born in1915 and died in 1986.

In 1919 she married Francis Hershel "Frank" Anthes (1878–1955.) He was from the Niagara Falls, Ontario region of Canada, and settled in Texas, where he worked drilling oil. She died 22 October 1965 in Kilgore, Rusk, Texas. They had a son named Norman Herschel Anthes, (1920-1990).
