He is survived by: his wife, "Mindy" Gibbs, Los Lunas, NM; his daughter, Patsy Joyce Messerscnmidt, Ventura, CA; his son, Johnny A. Gibbs, Jr., and wife, Norma, Los Lunas NM; one sister, Bertha Lee Ruggles, Hale Center, TX; three sisters-in-law, Viola Gibbs, Hale Center, TX; Zaoda "Sis" Gibbs, Sudan, TX; and Annie Gibbs, Anson, TX; two brothers, Calvin Gibbs, Anson, TX; and Ben Gibbs, Sudan, TX; seven grandchildren: Marvin, Sheri, Carrie, Vickie, Debbie, Gary and Larry; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Marvin Fulfer, Gary G. Gibbs, Boyd C. Gibbs, Jeff A. Edwards, Randy R. Holt and Joey King.
