Sharon D. Chadwell, 63, of Fort Gibson was called to heaven Sunday, May 2, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 8, 1947 in Longview TX, the daughter of Paul & Lillian Frances (Barton) Smith. Sharon grew up in Longview. She worked as a civil service administrative officer for the U. S. Government. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Gibson. Sharon thought of herself as a die hard Republican and was a member of the Republican National Committee. She loved to cook, and in her spare time enjoyed traveling. Sharon is survived by her husband, Letch of the home; her two sons, Robert Baccus and Jon Chadwell & his wife Jillian, all of Fort Gibson; one grandchild, Keely Chadwell; her siblings, Patricia Wiler, Pamela Chandler, Kelly Jewell, and Douglas Halliburton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Chris Baccus. A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at 1:00 p. m., Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Fort Gibson with Pastor Danny Gandara officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery with David Bass, James Fast, Dean Barris, Dan Cott, Mike Garbow, Tom Ardnt, David Ardnt, and James Moon serving as pallbearers. The family has entrusted Bradley Family Funeral Service of Fort Gibson with the arrangements.
