Christopher N. Altvater, 50, died May 14 at his home at Perry.
He was born Jan. 5, 1921, at Pleasant Point, the son of William M. and Kathleen (Dana) Altvater.
He was educated at St. Ann's School at Pleasant Point and attended Shead Memeorial High School in Eastport. He was a veteran of World War two. and at the end of the war returned home to operate a dairy farm and work in the weir fishing industry. He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church at Pleasant Point and was a member of the Dicknell Gagnon Hinkley Post in Togus.
He is survived by his parents, William M. Altvater of Terre-Haute, Ind., and Kathleen Dana of Pleasant Point in Perry; his wife, Rita (Nicholas) Altvater of Perry; four daughters, Mrs. Dale (Gerarda) Longfellow of Lambert Lake, Mrs Alfred (Judith) Morang of Eastport. Mrs. Frederick (Valerie) Emery of Eastport and Miss Lisa Altvater of Perry; two sons Christopher Altvater, Jr., and Kirk Altvater of Mill valley, Calif., and Keith Altvater of Terre-Haute, Ind.; six sisters, Mrs. Frank (Christina) Janda of Belvedere Tiburon, Calif., Mrs. David (Francine) McMurty of Calais, Mrs. Thomas (Clara) Stelma of Long Island, N.Y., Mrs. Stafford (Dorothy) Dorr of Perry. Mrs. Robert (Esther) Miller of Long Island, N.Y., and Janet Altvater of Terre-Haute, Ind.; eight grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Mass of Ressurection will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Ann's Church at Pleasant Point with the Rev. Hubert Paquet officiating.
Burial will be near the residence at Perry.
Friends may call at the residence Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
