FUNERAL HELD TODAY IN WREN FOR THE BODY

First Fire Fatality of Fall Takes Life of Lad

CLOTHES BLAZE FROM MATCH

Screams Bring Help But Aid Comes Too Late

Lendon M. Jackson, 2-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Jackson, first fire fatality of the fall, will be laid to rest this afternoon at Wren cemetery, Lawrence county.

The child died Sunday at 11:30 o'clock at Benevolent hospital where he had been taken Saturday afternoon, following burns received when his clothing became ignited from matches with which the little fellow was playing.

At the hospital every effort was made to save the baby's life, but death relieved him Sunday.

Clothing Blazes

The child is survived by his parents, who reside at 614 Eleventh avenue, west, four brothers and three sisters.

In some manner, while members of the household were occupied with various tasks Saturday, the baby obtained possession of a match which, upon striking, ignited his clothing. Screams of the child attracted others who extinguished the blaze and rushed the victim to the hospital, but the baby was beyond medical aid.

Following funeral services at Wren, conducted by Rev. Montgomery, interment will be made in Monggomery cemeter, Priest directing.

The family has the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their bereavement.
