Carl Gene Cunnagin was born March 30, 1941 in Clay County, KY and departed this life Monday, July 27, 2009 at his residence in McKee, being 68 years of age. He was the son of the late Elmer Cunnagin and Georgia Johnson Cunnagin Isaacs.
Carl is survived by his loving wife- Sue (Foreman) Cunnagin of McKee; by two daughters- Carla Johnson and husband Deron of Cincinnati, Ohio and Stacey Cunnagin of London, KY and by two step-sons- Brant Isaacs and wife Tashi of McKee, KY and Lance Isaacs and wife Kena of McKee, KY. He is also survived by a sister- Bobbie Combs and husband J.G. of Tyner, KY and by three brothers- Elmer Cunnagin Jr. and wife Jean of London, KY, Willis Cunnagin and wife Flora of London, KY and Phillip Cunnagin and wife Lenora of Florida. Carl was blessed with a granddaughter- Jordan Delaney Cunnagin; by a step-granddaughter- Ella Brooke Isaacs; by two special friends- Jeff Brockman and Rennie Price and by a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Carl was also preceded in death by his step-father- Ben Isaacs.
Carl served as County Attorney for twenty-three years and was currently Master Commissioner and had been since February 20, 1991. He was a member of the McKee Baptist Church but had been attending the Corinth Baptist Church in London, KY.
Funeral service was held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Ken Felty, Bro. Eddy Judd and Bro. Carroll de Forest officiating. Burial followed in the Penile Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Brockman, Woody Masters, Bobby Morris, Rennie Price, Brant Isaacs, Lance Isaacs, Paul Rose, Howard Williams & Deron Johnson. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
